Get to Know Your Orange Man: #18, WR Ed Hendrix

July 20, 2020 by Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Leave a Comment

NCAA Football: Central Michigan at Syracuse

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Ed Hendrix

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: (Redshirt) Sophomore

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 217

Hometown: Washington, D.C.

High School: H.D. Woodson

2019 stats: Unfortunately missed all of last season with an injury.

2020 projections: With luck, we finally get to see Hendrix on the field for the Syracuse Orange. Back in March, he was listed as a second-string outside receiver behind Cameron Jordan. If he’s healthy, he may very well be able to claim the starting spot too (or at the very least, be a significant contributor).

How’d he get here?: Ed was in demand, with offers from the likes of Boston College, Michigan State, Louisville, Pitt, NC State, Wisconsin and others. Not a bad list.

What’d recruiting sites say?: ESPN said four stars, while everyone else said three. We know which one we’re trusting.

Money quote: Bummer of a quote from Dino Babers after Hendrix’s most recent injury last year.

“We’re still waiting. We’re getting medical opinions on it. … We’ve got to see. Right now he’s just not right and we’re hoping and wishing the best for him.”

Tweets of wonder: In case you were curious about how Ed eats crab, well, here you go.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Dino has daughters, so it seems like he had to — whether he wanted to or not — watch 1998’s “The Parent Trap” with Lindsay Lohan. We bring this up because Elaine Hendrix plays Meredith Blake in said film.

Interesting nugget o’interest: H.D. Woodson has graduated quite a few interesting alums, and one of those is Byron Leftwich. As you know, he was a star quarterback at Marshall, then the Jacksonville Jaguars before a host of other NFL teams. He won a Super Bowl with the Steelers, and floated around for a bit after then went into coaching. Since his playing days, he’s worked his way up to the Buccaneers’ OC.

Let’s get a look at ya: High school highlights, as you’d expect (these, courtesy of national signing day video clips for SU).
