The pass rushing specialist should get an increased role
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: David Omopariola
Position: Linebacker
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 244 lbs.
Hometown: Baltimore, MD
High School/Previous College: Woodlawn
2024 stats: Played 12 games, starting one. Totaled 12 tackles, four TFLs, 0.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and two QB hurries.
2025 projections: “David O” is one of the few “smaller” edge rushers that have immediately made an impact for Syracuse. He sets up on the line much more often than in linebacker depth. His speed and power made him a considerable threat, and he should feature more regularly in the defensive rotation in the upcoming season.
How’d he get here?: Temple was the only other school that offered Omopariola.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Consensus three-star recruit. A consensus top-50 player in the state.
Winners Get Washed: Avon Full Speed Surfer Body & Hair Wash Gel – I’m not sure if there is any setting that Omopariola has other than “Full Speed.”
Instagram feed: @slimey_david
Interesting nugget o’interest: Omopariola was a very accomplished wrestler in high school, but left early after receiving his Syracuse scholarship.
