Former Syracuse star Buddy Boeheim is getting another opportunity with the Detroit Pistons.
Detroit is signing the 6-foot-5 sharpshooter to a two-year, two-way contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Boeheim, 24, has spent this season playing for the G League’s Motor City Cruise. He signed with the squad in October after being waived by the Pistons.
In 20 games with the Cruise, Boeheim is averaging 15.6 points in 26.7 minutes per outing, shooting 46.3% from the field, 44% from three-point range and 94.7% from the free throw line.
Last season, Boeheim split time between the Pistons and the Cruise after going undrafted and signing a two-way deal with Detroit. He averaged 12.1 points per game in the G League while shooting 37% from three-point territory.
Boeheim’s limited NBA duty did not go as well, as he shot 5-for-27 from the field and 4-for-25 on three-pointers in 10 games with the Pistons.
The son of legendary Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, Boeheim helped lead the Orange to the Sweet 16 in 2021, scoring 67 points in three NCAA Tournament games.
As a senior, he was named first-team All-ACC while averaging 19.2 points per game. For his career at Syracuse, Boeheim produced 14.6 points per game on a 41-36-83 shooting line.
