It’s a chaotic season for the Florida State Seminoles, especially at quarterback. But head coach Willie Taggart is going to add just a little bit more chaos with yet another change under center.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, graduate transfer Alex Hornibrook will start at quarterback today against Syracuse. Hornibrook has played in three games this season and started in a win over North Carolina State in place of a then-injured James Blackman.
A former Wisconsin quarterback, Hornibrook started for the Badgers over the better part of three seasons. In 2017 he was the Orange Bowl MVP after leading Wisconsin to a 13-1 record that included a spot in the Big Ten title game.
To date, Hornibrook has completed 72.2-percent of his passes for 655 yards with six touchdowns and an interception for FSU.

Hornibrook has certainly shown that he has the skill to get the job done. Whether or not he can maintain his starting job likely depends on his performance today.
Florida State is 3-4 on the season and pretty much out of the ACC title picture. With only five games remaining, they’ll need to win this game against Syracuse and two others to avoid back-to-back losing seasons.
The Seminoles have not suffered back-to-back losing seasons since 1975-76.
