Syracuse attackers Emma Ward and Olivia Adamson were named to the 2025 Tewaaraton Award Watch List Thursday. The award is given annually to the most outstanding men’s and women’s collegiate lacrosse players. The announcement marks the third time Ward has been placed on the list and the second for Adamson. Both players were also recognized as Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorees on Jan. 4.
Ward established herself as a top-five scoring threat for the Orange in 2024 with 81 points. Her four-point outings in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals and semifinals helped SU march to the conference championship game before falling to Boston College. Ward notched a season-high seven points (three goals and four assists) against Yale in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Adamson similarly enters 2025 coming off a season that saw her set new career highs in goals (58), assists (25) and points (83). She helped lead the Orange’s offensive unit alongside former attacker Emma Tyrrell, who finished her career ranked No. 8 all-time in Syracuse’s points list. Following the losses of multiple top scorers like Tyrrell and Natalie Smith, Adamson will be tasked with setting the pace for SU’s new cast of offensive weapons.
Ward and Adamson are just two of 16 players named to the Watch List who represent the ACC. No. 1 Boston College leads the conference with five players on the list, tied with No. 2 Northwestern for the most from any team in the nation. Among those names is former Syracuse starting goalie Delaney Sweitzer, who joined the Wildcats following her transfer from the Orange on Dec. 9, 2024.
