Miller looks to claim a redemptive season within the NFC East
Former Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller is reportedly signing with the Washington Commanders. A post by Miller showing him in Washington garb hit social media before Tom Pelissero broke the news to the rest of the internet.
Adam Schefter reports it as a one-year deal between Miller and Washington, with details yet to be finalized. Miller is a two-time Super Bowl winner, having done so with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane lured Miller to One Bills Drive in free agency ahead of the 2022 NFL season, with an eye on his role of “closer” helping to lift Buffalo over their playoff hump. While his tenure with the Bills started well, things fell apart following a devastating knee injury on Thanksgiving Day during a road game against the Detroit Lions.
Miller initially brushed the injury off as a week-to-week situation, but he was ultimately lost for the season when the team placed him on Injured Reserve when December began. Miller was a shell of his former self when he returned to action off the reserve/PUP list in early October of 2023, almost 11 months removed from injury. He ended the year with zero sacks and three combined tackles.
Miller would find different trouble in 2023, this time due to an off-field domestic abuse situation involving his girlfriend that netted a warrant for his arrest. Miller eventually turned himself in and his girlfriend recanted. The NFL handed down its own punishment, forcing Miller to the sidelines for four games without pay for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
In three seasons with the Bills, Miller started 11 of 36 games played, collecting 14 sacks, 41 tackles (33 solo), 17 tackles for loss, 23 quarterback hits, two pass defenses, and one forced fumble — per Pro Football Reference.
It didn’t work out quite like Miller expected, and his exit from One Bills Drive didn’t come under his terms. Now, he’ll try to put together a redemptive season outside the Nation’s capital, and continue his quest to win a Super Bowl with three NFL teams.
In terms of a potential reunion with Buffalo and Bills Mafia? The only way Miller could face the Bills is by way of Super Bowl LX. Now, wouldn’t that be something?
