Top Micah Parsons Potential Trade Destinations

August 2, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Potential trade destinations for Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher

According to Micah Parsons via X, he has officially requested a trade out of Dallas. Parsons quoted, “I have made a tough decision, I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.” If Parsons is traded, here are four potential landing spots for the star pass rusher:

 4 Potential Destinations:

New England Patriots– The Patriots are nearing the end of their rebuild and appear ready to take the next step. New defensive-minded head coach Mike Vrabel would benefit greatly by adding a game-breaker like Parsons. Outside of cornerback Christian Gonzalez, the Patriots lack true star power on defense and should certainly make a pitch to Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones. The Patriots currently also hold the most cap space in the NFL and have the most flexibility to pay Parsons. New England shouldn’t hesitate to give up draft capital. When an elite player like Parsons becomes available, you do what it takes to get him. Parsons would give the Patriots defense a new identity and immediately raise the ceiling higher for the team.

Detroit Lions– If the Lions want to make a significant splash, trading for Parsons would send a statement to the NFL. Pairing him with Aidan Hutchinson would create one of the most dominant pass rushes in the NFL. Hutchinson will likely be eased into the season after coming off a serious leg injury last year. The Lions know the pass rush is crucial when it comes to the playoffs. They upgraded their secondary this offseason, and now the missing piece is another pass rusher. Although any Parsons trade would be complicated, a true contender like Detroit, which has cap space, at the very least, will certainly be interested. Parsons would possibly make the Lions the NFC favorites ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Los Angeles Chargers– The Chargers make a lot of sense. In 2026, they are projected to have $84.5 million in cap space. Money certainly won’t be an issue to pay Parsons. Chargers pass rusher Khalil Mack is still effective, but he is nearing the end of his career at age 34. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has brought a new identity to the Chargers team and would be ecstatic to land Parsons. Parsons would immediately make the Chargers serious contenders in the AFC.

Long Shot: Buffalo Bills– The Bills are on the doorstep of a Super Bowl and can easily view Parsons as the missing piece to put them over the top. Buffalo currently has Gregory Rousseau, who is progressively getting better, and Joey Bosa. Bosa, while talented, is injury-prone and has struggled to stay on the field throughout his career. Parsons is a clear and significant upgrade over both. Parsons brings elite speed off the edge and game-breaking ability. His presence would elevate Buffalo’s defense into one of the league’s most dangerous units. Buffalo will seem like a long shot in the Micah Parsons potential trade destinations due to a lack of cap space. But for a team that’s looking to win the Super Bowl now, figuring out a way to acquire Parsons would put the Bills over the top.

Career Stats And What Parsons Is Looking For

Since entering the league, Parsons has been a dominant force. Flashing elite speed, he is nearly unguardable. In each of his four seasons, he has surpassed 10 sacks and had a career high of 14 in 2023. Despite only playing in 13 games last year, the star pass rusher put up 12 sacks. Parsons, who is entering the final year of his contract, is seeking a $200 million extension and likely $40 million a year. The best move for General Manager Jerry Jones is to pay Parsons. Not only is it hard to find an elite pass rusher in football, but Parsons is only 26 and still has plenty of great years ahead of him. Any of the Micah Parsons potential trade destinations would have to prepare for a blockbuster deal that would involve significant draft capital or high-end players in return to land Parsons.
