The latest chapter in the Bills-Chiefs rivalry

November 1, 2025 by WIVB 4

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — This Sunday will be the latest round in one of the best rivalries in the NFL.

Bills vs Chiefs. Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes.

In the regular season, Josh Allen is 4-1 against the Chiefs. However, he is still looking for his first win against Mahomes in the postseason. Sean McDermott spoke about the influence both players have on the football world.

“(Mahomes) is an incredible player,” said McDermott. “He’s had a huge impact on this league. And you see kids wearing the jerseys. You see kids wearing Josh’s jersey. When you grow up watching players like Josh and like Patrick, they impact their communities. And they impact the world, really, because of who they are and how they do things.”

In the five regular-season matchups against the Chiefs, the Bills have averaged 25.8 points per game while Allen averages 296 total yards per game.

“Any time you’re playing against a good team and a good quarterback, you have to play at the top of your game in order to win a football game,” said Allen. “Not that you don’t go out there and try to play your best all the time. There is a heightened sense of awareness to that, of understanding who’s on the other side of the football.”

Mahomes was asked by Kansas City local media if there was a part of Allen’s game that he wishes he could replicate.

“To be that size and be able to move like that,” said the Chiefs quarterback. “He’s done so many great things as far as throwing the football and stuff like that. But the way he’s able to extend plays and get close to the sideline and make these big-time throws down the field, that stuff is special. And so he’s gotten better and better each and every year. I think that’s something that I’ve seen (from) him. And so that’s something I try to do for myself as well.”

The game will take place at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
