The Buffalo Bills Have Traded Star Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs

In a shocking, blockbuster trade, the Buffalo Bills are parting ways with All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bills are trading their leading receiver from the past four seasons to the Houston Texans in exchange for a yet-unspecified draft pick. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Bills will get a 2025 second-round pick while the Texans also receive a 2025 fifth-round pick and sixth-round pick as part of the deal.

“Blockbuster: Bills are finalizing a trade to send four-time Pro-Bowl WR Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans for draft-pick compensation, sources tell ESPN,” Schefter wrote.

The Bills first acquired Diggs in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings in 2020, and he immediately delivered one of the best seasons for a receiver in franchise history. That year he led the league in receptions and receiving yards en route to Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors.

Over the next three seasons, Diggs would have at least 100 receptions and over 1,100 yards each year and the Bills reached the playoffs and won at least one playoff game each time.

However, there were grumbles of discontent before the 2023 NFL season and some rumors before the preseason that Diggs might be looking to leave, particularly after a frustrating playoff loss the year before.

A split seemed inevitable, but the Bills did right by Diggs in sending him to another playoff team with Super Bowl aspirations in the Texans.

Now the Bills have an important question of their own to answer: Who will star quarterback Josh Allen be throwing the ball to as his No. 1 receiver?
