After the NFL draft ends each year, another “wave” of free agency typically hits. For the Buffalo Bills, the first move in this realm ended up being a loss of sorts.
The Houston Texans signed former Bills pass rusher Mario Addison.
He had been a pending free agent after the 2021 season.
Addison, 34, played in Buffalo the past two seasons. In that time, he put up 12 sacks and led the team with seven last season.
Addison previously played with the Carolina Panthers before landing with the Bills. Having been familiar with Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott and defensive line coach Eric Washington from his time with the Panthers before joining the Bills.
It appears Addison made a similar decision by signing with the Texans. Houston D-line coach Jacques Cesaire was previously an assistant in Buffalo.
The Bills added numerous pieces to their defensive front this offseason during free agency, including the addition of All-Pro Von Miller. Because of that, it seemed unlikely that Buffalo would bring Addison back for a third year.
