Stefon Diggs Doesn’t Believe He Was Traded With ‘Kindest Intent’

As Stefon Diggs prepares for his first season with the Houston Texans following several extremely productive years with the Buffalo Bills, he’s reflecting on the circumstances that got him sent to Buffalo to begin with.

Per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Diggs said that when he was in Minnesota with the Vikings he always wanted more for himself and would bet on himself and his career accordingly. But when the Vikings traded him, he felt that they did so without the “kindest intent.”

Ultimately, Diggs feels that he wound up in a better spot with Josh Allen as his quarterback and says that Allen really embraced him as a friend and teammate.

“Because at that point when I left Minnesota, I was a good player, but I [wanted] more for myself, I felt like I was better than that, that I could be better than that. And up to a point I was like, ‘Shoot, I’m gonna bet on myself.’ And they sent me to Buffalo. I don’t know if they sent me to Buffalo with the kindest intent, but all’s well that ends well. When I got to Buffalo, Josh was my guy. People really understand what it’s like to be out there. He really embraced me, kind of had that Southern hospitality,” Diggs said.

“He embraced me, spent a lot of time, and I probably wouldn’t be right here if it wasn’t for him. I got a lot of love for that boy.”

All is well that ends well though. The Bills got a few good years with Diggs, during which they dominated the AFC East and reached the AFC Championship Game for the first time in decades. Meanwhile, the Vikings eventually got Justin Jefferson, who has since become arguably the best wide receiver they’ve had since Cris Carter or even Randy Moss.
