The Bills only kept two tight ends on their initial 53-man roster at the end of roster cutdowns. Could that mean a move such as a trade is on the horizon?
Specifically, could that involve Eagles tight end Zach Ertz?
Nope.
Ertz said from Eagles practice this week that he now wants to stay in Philly.
“Just to come out here with a new coaching staff has been so much fun. Coming to compete everyday, which has been a blast which I love to do — I never shy away from that. Ultimately — like I’ve said all along — this is the place I want to be and this is the place I want to retire. Those feelings haven’t changed,” Ertz said.
Well, so much for that idea.
And so much for Ertz wanting to leave.
Numerous reports throughout the offseason insisted Ertz wanted to be traded or cut.
In July, according to NFL Network‘s Mike Garafolo, Ertz wasn’t happy because he never got the contract extension he wanted last season. Because of that, “nothing has changed” for Ertz, per that report.
Those feelings have evidently changed.
Or never were.
