There’s been a ton of noise about Bills head coach Sean McDermott being on the hot seat in large part because his team has lost four out of their past six games. The latest report from The Athletic, however, shut down that chatter.
Tim Graham reported Thursday there’s “zero” chance the Bills will fire McDermott this offseason.
“Asked if there was any chance Pegula would fire McDermott, two of the sources replied ‘Zero.’ The other two sources said they would be shocked if Pegula made such a move,” Graham wrote. “All four sources have intimate knowledge of the Pegula-McDermott relationship.”
Perhaps this report will give McDermott some confidence heading into the last five games of the season.

Since becoming the head coach in 2017, McDermott has reached the playoffs in all but one season (2018). He’s in jeopardy of missing the postseason this year.
The Bills entered their bye week at 6-6. They’re coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles.
If McDermott is going to lead the Bills to the playoffs yet again, he’ll need to get through a brutal schedule. Over the next month and change, the Bills will face the Chiefs, Cowboys, Chargers, Patriots and Dolphins.
