The Buffalo Bills are cutting one of their top defensive players before free agency.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills are releasing star safety Jordan Poyer.
He instantly becomes one of the top defensive players on the market when the new league year starts in a week.
Poyer had a tremendous season in 2023, finishing with 101 total tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and four interceptions. This was the fourth time in the last seven seasons that he has recorded 100+ tackles.
He’s been with the Bills for the last seven seasons so he’ll be getting a change of scenery once he signs with a new team.
Before he was with the Bills, he spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns and one season with the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s a former seventh-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Oregon State.
For his career, he has appeared in 155 games and has compiled 807 tackles, 12 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 24 interceptions, and 54 passes defended.
He’s set to secure quite the bag when he signs his next deal during free agency. We’ll just have to see who pays him what he wants.
