The Bills will not be adding cornerback Steven Nelson to their No. 2 position battle with training camp beginning this week.

In May, a report indicated the Bills were among teams interested in signing the former Steelers defensive back. Last week, Nelson teased that he was close to making a decision on where he’d play in 2021.

That held true, as the free agent did eventually sign with a team. It was not the Bills.

The Eagles announced that Nelson signed a one-year deal with the club. Nelson’s contract is only one year in length, however, he did earn a potential $4 million pay day with incentives.

That price might have put the Bills out of the running for him, although, they could have afforded it. Per Spotrac, the Bills enter training camp with near $9M in cap space.

Regardless, Nelson heads to the NFC East side.

Without Nelson, the Bills head to training camp with incumbent Levi Wallace battling Dane Jackson for playing time at the No. 2 cornerback spot.
