I believe we all know how this is going to go
The Buffalo Bills’ 2024 season has been written. So let’s add some “illustrations!” If you’re new to Plays That Defined, this isn’t a highlight recap, but rather a cathartic retelling of the past season, chapter by chapter.
Don’t vote for your favorite play necessarily, vote for the one that best represents that game’s narrative. I’ll recap the game to refresh your memory, but don’t feel locked in by my narrative.
Chapter 11: Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
Kansas City entered Week 11 undefeated with Buffalo the last major obstacle in their way to a possible perfect record. The first half saw five lead changes, culminating in a field goal by Tyler Bass to end the second quarter and give the Bills back the lead.
Buffalo wouldn’t relinquish the lead from there. With dwindling time in the fourth quarter and maintaining a slim lead, the Bills were faced with a fourth-down dilemma. Go for the field goal to go up by five, or try to convert to burn off more time and/or go up by two scores. I assume we all remember what happened next.
Opening kickoff (Q1; 15:00)

The opening kickoff! Where momentum is yet to exist, and the game is anyone’s to win… or lose. Something, something poetic, yada yada yada. We all know which play you want to see and vote for so I may as well use any other one with a veneer of some other factor to justify it — so here’s the opening touchback from Tyler Bass.
Taylor Rapp’s interception (Q1; 14:23)

I usually do four to six GIFs but, again, we all know the deal for this game so you get just three this time. I would be remiss if I didn’t point out the great game by the defense though. Two turnovers including this Taylor Rapp snag thanks to pressure up front, two sacks, and only 21 points allowed.
Josh Allen’s heroic touchdown (Q4; 2:17)

I don’t need to describe this play, right? Didn’t think so. Enjoy it on repeat.
