AJ Klein has played great for the Buffalo Bills as of late. He’s having a resurgence in the second half of the year.
But according to Pro Football Focus, he wasn’t the Bills’ best defender against the Los Angeles Chargers (3-8) in Week 12. That honor goes to defensive end Jerry Hughes.
The football analytics outlet graded Hughes an 88.3 overall mark for his efforts against the Bolts:

Against the Chargers, Hughes had half a sack, four tackles, one for loss and two total quarterback hits. Klein’s numbers certainly have stood out as of late and not to discredit him, but Hughes has been a force all season for the Bills.
Not only was he their best defender via PFF’s grades vs. the Chargers, he’s Buffalo’s best defender period in 2020. His 75.5 overall defense grade even has a sizeable gap on the second-place Jordan Poyer.
