Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in NFL history at the young age of 28. With that said, he could join an exclusive group this Sunday with a win over the Buffalo Bills.
Mahomes has a career 2-0 record against Josh Allen and the Bills in the postseason. He knocked them out of the playoffs in 2020 and 2021.
If Mahomes leads the Chiefs to a win over the Bills this weekend, he’ll become the fifth quarterback in the Super Bowl era to be 3-0 in the postseason against another quarterback.
Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, Jim Kelly and John Elway are the only four quarterbacks who fall in this category.
Aikman was 3-0 against Brett Favre during his successful run with the Cowboys. Brady, meanwhile, had Philip Rivers’ number throughout his time in New England.
Here’s the full breakdown from Josh Dubow:
The Chiefs are 2-0 vs Bills in playoffs with Patrick Mahomes starting vs. Josh Allen. Only QBs who are 3-0 in postseason against another QB in Super Bowl era:
Troy Aikman vs Brett Favre
Tom Brady over Philip Rivers
Jim Kelly over Dan Marino
John Elway over Bernie Kosar— Josh Dubow (@JoshDubowAP) January 19, 2024
The last two playoff matchups between Mahomes and Allen took place at Arrowhead Stadium. They’ll square off in Buffalo this time around.
Kickoff for the Chiefs-Bills game is at 6:30 p.m. ET.
