The Buffalo Bills enter this weekend with the opportunity to win the AFC East and earn the No. 2 seed for the playoffs.
However, if Buffalo loses to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, there’s a chance they will miss the postseason altogether, depending on what happens elsewhere.
Fox Sports’ Nick Wright thinks this option is the best for the future of the Bills franchise, and he explained why on First Things First Wednesday.
“The Bills missing the playoffs would be the best thing for them,” Wright said. “I do not believe this team is capable of making the Super Bowl. I do not believe they are capable of reaching what was supposed to be their full potential this year, and I do not believe they are capable of doing it under this regime.
“If they win this game, and make the playoffs as the 2-seed, they will make no changes. And they need to make changes.”
“The Bills missing the playoffs would be the best thing for them. Josh Allen for the 3rd straight year, under this head coach, has underachieved his talent as a passer.” 😳

The big change Wright is advocating is moving on from head coach Sean McDermott and hiring an “offensive-minded” replacement who can maximize Josh Allen’s passing ability.
“Josh Allen for the third-straight year, under this head coach, has underachieved his talent as a passer,” Wright said.
Wright is a Kansas City Chiefs fan, so Bills supporters will likely either roll their eyes at this take or take it with a grain of salt.
We’ll see if his predictions about the Bills making changes if they miss the playoffs–or having a short shelf life there if they make them–come to fruition.
