Cornerback Nick McCloud had a steady showing with the Bills during the summer. His highlight was an interception in the preseason against the Bears.
His efforts didn’t find him a spot on the Bills’ final roster, but it did elsewhere.
As the Bills trimmed down their roster this week, McCloud found himself on the outside looking in. While on waivers, he was one of 27 players in the NFL that were claimed by another team.
McCloud is now a member of the Bengals.
Still, he doesn’t head to Ohio with any bad feelings toward the Bills. After the news, McCloud sent a thank you message to the team and the Buffalo fans via his social media account on Twitter:

One day, perhaps McCloud will find his way back to the Bills. Having a positive feeling after his departure is a good sign, at least.
McCloud originally joined the Bills this spring. Following the 2021 NFL draft, the Notre Dame product signed with the Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent.
Had McCloud cleared waivers, there’s a solid chance had he would’ve found his way to the Bills practice squad. The team only kept five cornerbacks on their final roster and kept three total on the taxi squad in the end.
