The NFL is allowing a bit more freedom for teams regarding their look starting in 2022.
According to reports, including ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league will switch their one-helmet rule per season to allow for two helmets to be worn by teams. Previously the NFL limited players to wearing one helmet during the season, citing safety precautions.
Because of that rule previously, the Bills were allowed to do their very far throwback look with the standing Buffalo. That’s because the team would just swap out the helmet logo decals.
With the new flexible rules, the Bills can now potentially use their second helmets as one to dust off a look previously worn in the 90s, the red helmets.
As of now, the Bills have not yet announced any type of second helmet they might unveil. The team does have two seasons to make that decision, but most fans already appear to be aiming for the red look.
