Are the Buffalo Bills considering a move to Austin, Texas?
That’s the latest rumor following the report by the Buffalo News on Sunday. The Bills are reportedly seeking $1.1 billion for a new stadium and they reportedly want the public to pay for it.
“The public would provide an unprecedented 100%, according to multiple sources who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the high sensitivity of the early stage of negotiations,” the Buffalo News reports.
Unsurprisingly, that does not seem to be a legitimate plan for Buffalo’s city leadership.
Can NYS afford, financially & politically, a $1.5 billion plan @BuffaloBills have floated – to be paid by state/county taxpayers – for a new NFL stadium (and renovations to its Sabres’ NHL arena)? The minefields are many as talks proceed in secret. https://t.co/Qbsh4zoVJ1

When stadium fundraising talks get frustrating, relocation rumors begin to surface (see what’s happening with the Oakland A’s).
Now, we have ESPN NFL insider Seth Wickersham reporting that the Bills could threaten a move to Austin, Texas.
“An ownership source tells me that Austin is a possible destination—or threat—as one of the ‘other cities elsewhere that desire an NFL franchise and would pay handsomely for it,’” he reported on Sunday.

While Austin, Texas could make for a nice home for an NFL franchise, no one wants to see the Bills leave Buffalo.
“Ban relocation. Ban the NFL,” one fan tweeted in response.
“If the Buffalo Bills lose their NFL team put this league into a blender. What an absolute joke to spring this on the fan base the moment the team has the slightest bit of success,” another fan added.
Others, meanwhile, can’t see Cowboys owner Jerry Jones backing the move. Texas already has two NFL franchises in Dallas and Houston.
“Can’t see the Jones or McNair families signing off on this, but would be interesting…” one fan tweeted in response.
Of course, an NFL team in Austin, Texas could be fun, too.
“Why wouldn’t you want to come to Austin? Buffalo or Austin…. Hmmm. Austin is an amazing place, plus it isn’t -10 degrees 9 months out of the year,” one fan wrote.
Where do you want to see the Bills playing moving forward?
