NFL news: Ravens, Chiefs announce plans for reduced fans in 2020

July 10, 2020 by Bills Wire Leave a Comment

The Bills already were reportedly looking into some potential downsizing tactics in terms of hosting fans at games at New Era Field in 2020. It’s unclear if any teams will be allow in venues come September and the start of the upcoming regular season.

While the Bills are prepping just in case the club gets to the point where they decided less fans is a good idea, some other team have already got there.

Both the Ravens and Chiefs have reportedly already committed to allowing less fans in their stands this season. The Ravens outlined plans to limit attendance to fewer than 14,000 people per game. To this point, the Chiefs have yet to provide a hard number, but did say the club is planning for less-than-full seating. Like Buffalo, these teams also announced that season ticket holders can get credit toward 2021 tickets if opting-out of attending games.

The NFL announced that teams will be able to make these decisions individually. That could be good news for the Bills because the Buffalo area hasn’t had the spike in reported coronavirus cases that other areas of the United States have had such as Texas and Florida. Still, there’s still signs pointing to Buffalo following suit and only allowing a certain number of fans. New York State did previously say, as of now, fans will not be allowed. However, it’s a long time until September, so that could change, as could the Bills’ thoughts on the topic.
