The Buffalo Bills have reached the NFL playoffs in six straight seasons, but Josh Allen and Co. have yet to parlay that success into a Super Bowl appearance. At least one NFL analyst believes that’s going to change in 2025.
Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com predicted Thursday the Bills are going to overcome a crowded AFC field, which also features the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Kansas City Chiefs, to reach the Super Bowl and ultimately win the franchise’s first championship.
“This is bold simply because the Bills have dealt with so much heartache over the last five seasons. They’ve lost four playoff games to the Chiefs (including two AFC title bouts) and suffered another home defeat to the Bengals in the 2022 Divisional Round,” Chadiha wrote. “This team has too much talent and smart coaching to continually miss out on opportunities to get over the hump, which is why this prediction makes so much sense today.”
Buffalo last reached the Super Bowl at the end of the 1993 season when Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed and Bruce Smith were leading the charge. More than three decades later, it’s time for Allen, James Cook, Khalil Shakir and new arrival Joey Bosa to end the drought.

Buffalo Bills Super Bowl Bound in 2025?
Chadiha Further Details Championship Prediction
The Bills reached the AFC Championship Game last season before their latest heartbreaking loss to the Chiefs. They’ve been unable to generate enough defensive stops against Patrick Mahomes and the talented K.C. offense when it matters most. Chadiha believes the pieces are going to fall in place this time around, though.
“Quarterback Josh Allen is coming off his first MVP season. The defense added some nice pieces in the 2025 NFL Draft, including speedy cornerback Maxwell Hairston and edge rusher Landon Jackson. The schedule also looks favorable, with Buffalo playing 10 games against teams that didn’t produce a winning record in 2024,” Chadiha wrote. “There’s basically never been a better time for the Bills to earn the top seed in the AFC and potentially host a conference championship game. And if they can do that, they should win the whole damn thing.”

Although the NFL.com columnist is predicting a memorable finish to the campaign, he doesn’t foresee another MVP trophy for Allen. He projects Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to take home the league’s top individual honor this season.
Of course, both Allen and the Bills Mafia will gladly accept that trade off if the result is a championship parade.
Bills’ Super Bowl History
Buffalo captured back-to-back AFL titles in 1964 and 1965. It’s yet to raise a championship banner since joining the NFL in 1970, though.
Sports fans are well aware of the Bills’ failures on American sports’ biggest stage. They made four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1990 through 1993. They lost them all, including a 20-19 defeat in the infamous “Wide Right” game where kicker Scott Norwood missed a late-second field goal against the New York Giants.

Buffalo’s four Super Bowl trips without a championship is tied with the Minnesota Vikings for the most in league history. Minnesota hasn’t reached the big game since 1976.
All of those numbers prove one point: there are no guarantees. The Bills must capitalize during their current Allen-driven championship window. If it closes without a title, there’s no telling when the franchise will be back in position to seriously compete.
What The Betting Odds Say
Buffalo owns the fourth-best Super Bowl odds ahead of training camp. Here’s a look at the top contenders based on the preseason betting lines, according to ESPN BET:
- T-1: Kansas City Chiefs (+600)
- T-1: Philadelphia Eagles (+600)
- 3: Baltimore Ravens (+650)
- 4: Buffalo Bills (+700)
- 5: Detroit Lions (+900)
As Chadiha mentioned, getting the No. 1 AFC seed could be the difference. The first-round bye has been elusive during the Bills’ current run in contention. The week off after a grueling 17-game schedule is extremely valuable. The home-field advantage also helps.

In addition, the AFC is extraordinarily competitive. The Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers headline the other teams with enough talent to make a deep playoff run. So, not having to play a dangerous squad in the Wild Card Round would really boost Buffalo’s chances.
The Bills are also planning to open their new stadium in 2026. What better way to debut a $2.1 billion venue than with a banner-raising ceremony? Perhaps the stars are finally aligning for Buffalo.
