New York State Governor Kathy Hochul believes there will be a deal in place to build a new Buffalo Bills stadium by the time the state’s budget is due for 2022.
That date is April 1.
Hochul called the conversations at the negotiating table, are between the team, state and Erie County, “very positive.”
“I feel very confident that they’ll be resolved in time to have conversations during the budget process,” Hochul said during an event in Buffalo via the Buffalo News. “This is a very important priority to me, this community, and also the entire state.”
“We’ll be able to find the resources in the budget,” Hochul added.
Hochul’s comments stating that a concrete done deal is done just yet. However, they do reinforce recent updates.
Multiple outlets, including The Athletic, have noted a deal is nearing. Specifically, they have said the finalization of a new venue could be done at some point during the month of March.
Other previous headlines made note that the new venue could be around a 60,000 seating capacity stadium.
The report from The Athletic also states the Bills have “begun preliminary steps” toward the new stadium’s actual construction.
Bills Wire will continue to follow the stadium topic as it unfolds. Check back for future updates.
