Mitch Trubisky went back to a familiar team in the Buffalo Bills this week.
He signed a two-year $5.25 million deal with the Bills to be Josh Allen’s backup and said on Thursday that the decision was a “no-brainer.”
It felt like a no-brainer,” Trubisky said, via ProFootballTalk. “It felt like coming home.”
Trubisky was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers a couple of weeks ago, which paved the way for him to go back to the Bills. He was Allen’s backup during the 2021 season before spending the last two seasons with the Steelers.
He rotated between being a starter and a backup when he was with the Black & Gold. He started the 2022 season as the starter before being benched for Kenny Pickett after a few games.
When Pickett would get hurt, he came back in but he never played particularly well during his stint in the Steel City.
He appeared in 12 games and finished with 1,884 yards through the air, eight touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
A change of scenery could do him some good since he was playing in Matt Canada’s during that time, which was one of the worst units in the league.
