Last offseason the Buffalo Bills started their efforts to revamp their offensive line. The largest addition of them all was former Chiefs center Mitch Morse.

You know, the same Kansas City Chiefs who went on to win the Super Bowl one season after he left them via free agency to sign a big contract with the Bills? Ouch.

Months after watching his former team take home the Lombardi Trophy over the 49ers, Morse discussed how it felt watching that go down over the weekend while talking to reporters via video conference from Bills training camp. Even though things happened the way they did, there’s no hard feelings and more importantly, no regrets.

“You know, I have some really good friends on that team and I was happy for them. But like you said, I’m in the place I’m meant to be. I couldn’t be happier where I’m at,” Morse said. “Watching that game, I was happy for my friends, I know all the work they had put in… couldn’t be happier for them, but I couldn’t care less at the same time because I know where I was and I’m happy to be there.”

One thing Morse will care about his getting his shot at a title with the Bills. Moving forward, he could be a big part of the team doing exactly that. Morse, the leader of the offensive line in the middle of it, knows he has places he can improve in his second season in Buffalo. Morse also said even though Jon Feliciano, who was injured recently won’t be starting the season with his teammates, the Bills returning four of five starters on the O-line should go a long way. Morse even cited multiple backup players that are returners, too.

But facts are facts and Morse knows that. Much of the Bills’ future successes or failures reside on the shoulders of quarterback Josh Allen. He’s the key player in getting the Bills to those levels the Chiefs reached in 2019. So far heading into 2020, Morse see positive steps from Allen early on in the process this offseason.

“Josh has really come into his own coming into Year 3. It’s very good to see the way he’s taking command, the communication is crisp, it’s clean, it’s exciting,” Morse said.
