Keon Coleman hype growing throughout Buffalo Bills training camp

Is Coleman ready to take off in Year 2?

As a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, I do my best to stay even-keeled when it comes to training camp. Too often I can become enamored with updates out of St. John Fisher University, only to be disappointed once the season begins. Even though I’ve learned my lesson in years past, I’m having trouble avoiding the hype around second-year wide receiver Keon Coleman.

As the updates continue to pour in each day on social media, highlight catches from Coleman seem to be a regular occurrence. On Thursday, the club’s official Twitter account shared this beautiful connection between Josh Allen and Coleman (despite the obvious pass interference from Dorian Strong).

This highlight was picked up by plenty of national outlets, and the hype immediately took off. While one highlight-reel play does not predict any type of future success, it’s supported by updates from local beat reporters on-site at training camp.

Earlier in the week Joe Marino highlighted the play of Coleman with a Locked On Bills episode titled “Keon Coleman Electrifies Bills’ Training Camp.”

That podcast was followed with a recent episode of Shout!, with Ryan Talbot and guest Brent Axe, titled the “summer of Keon continues.” These are just two examples highlighting Coleman’s progression, and the rapport he has shown through camp with Allen.

The excitement around Coleman continued on Friday night at the team’s open practice at Highmark Stadium. After two early drops, Coleman was impressive, according to multiple reports from those in attendance. Ajay Cybulski from Trainwreck Sports, among others, shared a number of updates on Coleman from Highmark Stadium on Friday night.

First time seeing #Bills WR Keon Coleman in-person this summer, and he was impressive as advertised.

He made plays all over the field and won every ball that came his way. Expecting a big season.#BillsMafia

While the start of the regular season is more than a month away, I do find myself feeling more optimistic about Coleman and his potential this season. Are you buying into the hype, or is it more of a “wait and see” situation?
