Josh Allen’s Special Day Powers Bills Over Rival Dolphins

September 19, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The lights were bright, the grills were hot, and fans outside Highmark Stadium shouted the same chant all night: “Squish the Fish!” On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills made sure it came true, beating the Miami Dolphins 31-21 in front of a wild home crowd.

Josh Allen’s Record Day

Josh Allen made history! He became the fastest player ever to throw and run for 300 touchdowns in his career, counting both regular-season and playoff games.

Only a few QBs have ever reached 300 touchdowns, and Allen did it quicker than superstar Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes still has more playoff touchdowns (46 compared to Allen’s 25) and three Super Bowl wins, but Allen is good at protecting the football — he’s thrown four interceptions in 13 playoff games.

Allen Set the Tone for the Bills

Miami scored first when Ollie Gordon II ran in from two yards out. But Josh Allen, the Bills’ big star, answered fast. He threw a 20-yard touchdown to Dalton Kincaid, who fought his way into the end zone. The game was tied 7-7.

In the second quarter, Allen found rookie Jackson Hawes for another touchdown, putting Buffalo ahead 14-7. Right before halftime, Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle connected for a short score, tying things 14-14.

The Bills came out strong after the break. James Cook ran in for a two-yard touchdown to make it 21-14. The Dolphins tied it again in the fourth on a short pass to Tyreek Hill. With the score 21-21, the game felt up for grabs.

However, Allen stayed calm. He fired a 15-yard touchdown to Khalil Shakir, giving Buffalo the lead for good. With 22 seconds left, kicker Matt Prater drilled a 48-yard field goal to seal the win. Fans celebrated the win as the Bills moved to 3-0.

The Box Score

Allen went 22-for-28 with 213 yards and three touchdowns. Cook ran for 108 yards and a score. Kincaid led all receivers with 66 yards and a touchdown. The Bills’ defense held Miami to just 146 passing yards, keeping Hill to only 49.

Buffalo finished with 360 total yards compared to Miami’s 274. It was another consistent win, three in a row, for the Bills and company.

Here’s what’s coming next:

Week 4: On Sunday, the Bills play the New Orleans Saints at home. The Saints have a tough defense, but Josh Allen and the Bills will look to keep scoring big.

Week 5: On Oct. 5 at 8:20 PM, it’s a huge game against the New England Patriots. Anytime the Bills face the Pats, it feels extra important.

Week 6: On Oct. 13 at 7:15 PM, the Bills travel to play the Atlanta Falcons. Monday Night Football games are always special, and all eyes will be on Allen under the big lights.

Week 7: The Bills get a bye week.
