BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Bills quarterback Josh Allen will have his No. 17 college jersey retired at Wyoming this fall, the school announced on Thursday.
Allen’s jersey will be retired on Nov. 22 at Wyoming’s home game against Nevada. He’ll become the first Wyoming football player to have his jersey retired, and Allen will be in attendance for a halftime ceremony. The Bills play earlier that week with a Thursday night game against Houston.
“It is very exciting and a wonderful day for the State of Wyoming,” UW Director of Athletics Tom Burman said in a press release. “It is going to be a big day in the history of Wyoming Football. Josh is the most high-profile ambassador the University of Wyoming has ever had. The National Football League is the most visible sports enterprise in history, and he is the best player in that league and that is pretty amazing in itself.”
Before Allen was selected by the Bills with the seventh pick in the 2018 draft, he was a two-time captain at Wyoming, throwing for over 5,000 yards, 44 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 27 games.
