Now embracing the spotlight that accompanies superstardom, Allen will make a guest appearance on “The Today Show”
If you were to ask Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen what he hoped to find upon landing in Western New York back in 2018, he’d likely tell you something not too different from his roots in Firebaugh, CA. A small-town boy at heart, Allen didn’t crave the spotlight that often accompanies the very best in his sport. He simply wanted to find the right fit that allowed him to feel like he was home, and
Those in Bills Mafia know his story well by now, a former zero-star recruit who couldn’t catch a Division I football scholarship to save his life out of high school. Settling on tiny Reedley College before transferring to Wyoming, Allen was a polarizing prospect during the 2018 NFL Draft cycle — but to most he was a prospect widely viewed as a project at quarterback, at best.
Seven seasons on, Josh Allen is now the reigning NFL MVP, a man re-writing the Bills’ franchise record books with almost each game that passes. Allen’s even graced the cover of the Madden NFL video game franchise. To say Allen’s ascendance is monumental is a massive understatement — and with that comes celebrity. The spotlight has found a once-reluctant Allen.
Josh Allen is now one of the NFL’s preeminent icons, and he’s yet to turn 30 years old. Allen is set to marry celebrity actress/singer Hailee Steinfeld this year, having proposed to her in a private setting during Buffalo’s bye week in 2024. The boy that wanted nothing more than to find similar roots in his NFL home is quickly becoming an A-list celebrity among those who don’t even follow football.
With that comes Allen’s latest media appearance on “The Today Show” with NBC. Allen’s set to appear on the network morning show Wednesday, May 14, which also happens to be when the 2025 NFL regular-season schedule is announced in full. The segment featuring Allen is titled “Catching up with Josh Allen.”
What will come of Allen’s appearance on “The Today Show” later this week? Many believe his appearance will carry an announcement about a big regular-season matchup for the Bills. But there could be far more to Allen’s visit with “The Today Show” crew.
Earlier in 2025, Josh Allen entered into a partnership with Skydance Sports, LLC, which will see him variously involved with studio and cinematic productions, as well other endeavors in the coming years. The first among those is set to premiere during the 2025 holiday season as a Bills-themed Christmas movie on “The Hallmark Channel.”
Allen’s segment will likely last under 10 minutes and there’s plenty to discuss — even as it relates only to Buffalo’s upcoming season — but you can bet Hollywood will play a role in the morning’s conversation. That’s especially true given Allen’s proposal to Steinfeld, who knows a few things about the red carpet.
Will Allen hand-deliver some juicy NFL schedule news? You can catch up with Josh Allen alongside the rest of America early Wednesday morning during his appearance on “The Today Show” with NBC.
