Never thought you’d see that headline, huh?
But it’s true. Not only is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen impressing with his hard stats this season, but he’s showing his worth in the fancy stats, too.
Pro Football Focus, the football analytics outlet that has often had their content subjected to the wrath of Bills Mafia via social media, has Allen ranked very high in their latest quarterback grades heading into Week 10.
After nine games played by Allen and the Bills, he’s their fifth-highest graded QB so far this season with an overall mark of 86.8. Currently the only players out-ranking Allen are: Patrick Mahomes (89.7), Tom Brady (90.9), Russell Wilson (93.1) and Aaron Rodgers (93.8).
Not bad company to have.
Looking at those prior mentioned hard or… normal… stats, Allen’s among the league-leaders in several others as well. His 2,587 passing yards is third-most, behind only the Falcons’ Matt Ryan (2,746) and Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes (2,687). Allen also ranks impressively with a 68.9 completion percent (6th), QBR 79.3 (6th) and touchdown passes with 19 total (5th).
Nice to see even the analytics guys finally admit to seeing something in Allen.
