Issues continue to compile in Buffalo as the team could consider trading wide receiver Keon Coleman after the 2025 season. According to reports, the Bills are benching Coleman for a third time this season, and it doesn’t look good for the receiver, who once had a promising future in Buffalo. After having somewhat of a breakout rookie campaign last year, recording 556 receiving yards on 29 receptions and four touchdowns, the receiver has dipped below in 2025. Despite having a major role in the first regular-season win over the Baltimore Ravens, eclipsing 100 receiving yards, the Bills haven’t been able to see much from the wideout.
Latest Bills Issues Could Lead to Future Blockbuster Keon Coleman Trade
As of this posting, the latest benching of Coleman isn’t a result of an injury, but a “professionalism” issue. However, the source said they’re not looking to move on from Coleman, but this kind of situation could return at some point during the 2025 offseason. If the Bills won’t use Coleman and if there is truly an “issue” in the locker room, then it would be best for both to move on.
Originally selected as a second-round pick, the former Florida State product hasn’t done himself a favor at all when given the opportunity. After signing Mecole Hardman to the active roster and starting him over Coleman proves that his time in Buffalo could be coming to an end. It’ll be interesting to see what happens, but if this trend continues, don’t be surprised if a trade occurs as soon as the upcoming offseason. Here are three teams that could pursue him.
Potential Trade Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
Even if the Dallas Cowboys find a way to retain George Pickens, the team will need to search for an adequate WR3. Jalen Tolbert is a pending free agent this upcoming offseason, coming off one of his worst seasons despite a promising 2024 campaign. Dak Prescott thrives on throwing to his receivers in fast-paced situations, which would benefit Coleman’s presence as a reliable option. Coleman doesn’t need to be the best receiver; his contract could be something the Cowboys will keep an eye on if the Bills decide to make him available, since he won’t be expensive.
This possible trade would give the Cowboys some much-needed down the stretch in slot-route opportunities while Pickens and CeeDee Lamb continue to get open in the deep threat.
Carolina Panthers
Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers have built one of the most promising offensive rosters as long as Bryce Young can stay consistent. With rookie Tetairoa McMillan becoming the No. 1 receiver in Carolina, the Panthers would see potential success from Coleman. He has the size and hands similar to McMillan and Jalen Coker. Since Xavier Legette had a fair share of issues this season, the team could trade him in exchange for Coleman this upcoming offseason and a possible late-round draft pick.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers were on a phenomenal 5-1 streak, but now they’re fighting for the division. Baker Mayfield hasn’t been able to figure out how to close games, and with Mike Evans most likely retiring this offseason, it leaves a huge void in the aerial attack. Chris Godwin is on the brink of heading elsewhere since he’s slowed down, but the Buccaneers need to build for the future. Rookie Emeka Egbuka is the future, and someone young like Coleman could help in the same unit.
