Injury rundown for Bills following preseason opener vs. Lions

August 16, 2021 by Bills Wire Leave a Comment

The Bills won their first game against the Lions in the preseason.

Do you remember the score?

For what it’s worth, it was 16-15, but the point is, at this time of the year, it’s all about staying healthy not the outcome.

In an effort to do so, the Bills kept a lot of starters on the bench. Quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs were among them.

That helped many potential difference-makers in 2021 stay healthy on Friday. However, two depth pieces did not, but they even seem OK.

Running back Antonio Williams left the game briefly due to a “stinger,” per the Bills. He returned so Williams is good to go.

Wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins actually left and did not get back on the field. He had a knee injury. Still, he seems fine.

WKBW-TV posted this photo of Hodgins walking off the field after the game on social media. Evidently he never even went to the locker room due to the injury, which is a good sign:

Heading into the contest, Diggs had a minor knee injury so naturally he did not play… nor would he need to if he was healthy. Defensive tackle Vernon Butler sat out due to a concussion.

Depth players who also did not play due to injury include running back Christian Wade, offensive lineman Forrest Lamp, defensive end Mike Love, and right end Bug Howard.
