What should I know about the Panthers?
Carolina, under second-year head coach Dave Canales, is 4-3 on the season and coming off a 13-6 win against the New York Jets on Sunday.
Starting quarterback Bryce Young is expected to miss Sunday’s game due to a high ankle sprain suffered last Sunday, meaning Carolina will turn to veteran QB Andy Dalton to start. Dalton completed four of his seven pass attempts for 60 yards after coming in during the second half on Sunday after Young exited.
Running back Rico Dowdle ranks third in the NFL in rush yards with 551 yards, and has two touchdowns. Tetairoa McMillan leads the team in receiving yards with 413, and also has two touchdowns. On defense, linebacker Christian Rozeboom leads the team with 50 tackles, and cornerback Jaycee Horn has intercepted three passes.
Bills coach Sean McDermott spent six seasons as the Panthers defensive coordinator from 2011 to 2016 before getting the head coach job in Buffalo. He helped lead the Panthers to a 15-1 season in 2015 in which Carolina got to the Super Bowl.
This is the first time the Bills are facing Carolina since December 2021, a 31-14 Buffalo win, and this is the team’s first visit to Carolina since September 2017, a 9-3 Bills loss.
