Frank Gore Has Emotional Reaction To Son Signing UDFA Deal

NFL legend Frank Gore barely missed a game during a 16-year career that will very likely see him enshrined in Canton someday. But of all the great moments he enjoyed in his career, few seem to have gotten him as emotional as seeing his son get into the NFL.

Following the 2024 NFL Draft, Gore’s son Frank Gore Jr. signed a UDFA deal with the Buffalo Bills, where Gore Sr. played in 2019. Speaking to NFL insider Josina Anderson, Gore declared that the rest of the league had better get ready because his son is just like him. He got fired up, declaring that Buffalo “got a dog” in Gore Jr. and that his “bloodline is for real.”

“We’re good. We’re going to Buffalo man to do our thing. Tell them they better be ready-trust me. I know what I’m raising. Folks slept on my son; they slept on me too–they’ll see. My bloodline is for real. Our (pre-draft) testing was identical. All the scouts were like you can tell that’s my son. I !@%$ with (Brandon) Beane. He’s the real deal. I’m happy to get my son to this point. We’re coming to play. Buffalo got a dog; I promise you that. I don’t give a %#$ about a draft pick. We’re about to party and do our thing,” Gore said, via Anderson.

Gore Jr. played four seasons at Southern Mississippi, earning all-conference honors three times and set a single-season game record for rushing yards with the Golden Eagles with 329 against Rice in 2022. In 47 games, Gore rushed for 4,022 yards and 26 touchdowns.

But the pre-draft grades for Gore were largely low and often dismissive of his potential. The consensus appeared to be that Gore was a fringe NFL player at best.

Given that he was undrafted, 32 NFL general managers seem to have agreed.

Will the Gore family prove the doubters wrong?
