Here’s a name you might not have expected to hear during the upcoming NFL head coaching interviews: Leslie Frazier.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Los Angeles Chargers will be interviewing Frazier for their vacant head coaching job. Frazier most recently served as the defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills from 2017 to 2022, during which the team had four top-6defenses.
“Former Bills’ defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier will interview for the Chargers’ vacant head coaching job, per league source,” Schefter wrote.
Frazier was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2010 to 2013, during which he went 21-32-1. He led the team to the playoffs in 2012, but the team was eliminated by the rival Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card round.

The Los Angeles Chargers are casting a pretty wide net in searching for their next head coach. Reports have linked them to just about every top NFL assistant, a number of former head coaches and even college coaches.
Judging by the responses to this news, Leslie Frazier would not be a popular choice for the Chargers’ head coach. Him being a defensive-minded coach probably doesn’t help in a league where offensive-minded coaches have won five of the last six Super Bowls.
