Over the past few days, NFL teams have been reworking the contracts of players to become salary cap compliant – or create space to sign new players.
That appears to be the case with the Buffalo Bills as well. According to a report from ESPN’s Field Yates, the Bills restructured the contract of star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
“The Bills have restructured the contract of WR Stefon Diggs, converting base salary into a bonus and creating another $5.4M in cap space,” Yates reported.
It didn’t take long for the football world to take notice. Bills fans are taking it as a good sign that he’ll be with the team for the foreseeable future – despite some recent trade speculation.
“What an awful teammate. He hates it here lol,” joked one Bills fan.
“Diggs helping the Bills create cap space? What a diva, he must want to be traded to the cowboys,” another fan joked.
“tH BiLlS aRE GoINg tO TrADe hiM,” added a third.
What does this move mean for the Bills? We’ll find out in the coming days.
