The Buffalo Bills made a huge shakeup to their secondary this Wednesday, releasing Pro Bowl cornerback Tre’Davious White and All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer.
Now that Poyer has been cut, Damar Hamlin is one of the few remaining safeties on Buffalo’s roster.
Hamlin, a former sixth-round pick, only appeared in five games this past season. In 2022, however, he had 91 total tackles, two pass breakups and 1.5 sacks for the Bills.
While there’s still plenty of time for the Bills to revamp their secondary, their fans are understandably concerned about that unit. Some are even wondering if Hamlin will be the next roster cut.
“Early in the offseason, but Damar Hamlin is currently one of our starting safeties,” a Bills fan wrote on X. “Every QB on our schedule is licking their chops.”
Another person said, “I hate losing Jordan Poyer. I was fine with letting Micah Hyde retire, but losing BOTH safeties is tough. Especially considering Damar Hamlin is the only safety under contract now.”
“Who would’ve thought Damar Hamlin would be the last Buffalo DB standing,” a third person commented.
Buffalo will need to hit this draft out of the park, especially since it won’t have a ton of money to spend in free agency.
As for Hamlin, it seems like his roster spot with the Bills is safe – for now.
