ESPN Computer Predicts AFC East Champion With Tom Brady Gone

June 22, 2020 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Tom Brady walks off the field in the AFC Wild Card round.

The New England Patriots dominated the AFC East during the Tom Brady era, but that chapter has now come to an end since the six-time Super Bowl champion took his talents to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason.

New England might shock the world and remain a contender in the AFC even with Jarrett Stidham as its starting quarterback. However, the margin for error is much smaller without Brady.

ESPN’s Football Power Index has made its predictions for the 2020 season. From picking every division champion to ranking which teams have the best odds of making the Super Bowl, the FPI covers it all.

When it comes to the AFC East, the FPI is predicting a new team to reign supreme. That’s right, the Buffalo Bills have a 41.0 percent chance of winning the division, meanwhile the Patriots have a 40.9 percent chance of defending their division crown.

From ESPN:

The Bills rank one spot behind the Patriots in FPI’s rankings but have a slightly easier schedule. For their non-common opponents, the Patriots play the Ravens and Houston Texans, while the Bills play the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans.

Buffalo has done an excellent job improving its roster this offseason. The front office made a huge splash by acquiring Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster trade.

After owning a 10-6 record during the 2019 season, the sky is the limit for the Bills this fall.

Do you think Buffalo will win the AFC East?
