Dawson Knox gets second round of praising from Bills coaching staff

August 19, 2021 by Bills Wire Leave a Comment

Bills tight end Dawson Knox is a bit of a lightening rod.

At times, you can see the talent. Others, he’s frustrating. Because of the latter, some hope the team might still add to the position before the upcoming regular season.

If basing hopes off of things the Bills coaching staff says, there’s some bad news for such folks. Buffalo offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was the latest to praise Knox’s efforts form training camp.

“He’s growing in our system. He’s not thinking as much, which is really natural for any young player. He’s had another really good camp up to this point,” Daboll said. “He’s been a consistent player for us. He’s done a good job, put a lot of effort into the offseason which is good to see.”

“I’m glad we have him, I think he’s done a really good job,” Daboll added.

Throughout training camp, Knox, like his career-to-date, has had ups and downs. Despite that, Daboll’s comments join those of Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott’s.

He also praised Knox earlier in training camp.

“I think you’re seeing the production,” McDermott said. “He was off to a really good start– had a little bit of a hiccup one day and came back the next day and got right back on it.”

“I think he’s having a really good camp. I’ve been proud of what he’s done to this point,” McDermott added.

Praise is one thing, but once the regular season rolls around, it’ll be time for Knox to put up.

Entering his third season, if the improvement doesn’t happen, the Bills will have to consider looking for an improvement next offseason or at least a real threat to Knox’s standing as the team’s No. 1 tight end.
