Daniel Jeremiah explains what Keon Coleman brings to the Bills

June 30, 2024 by Bills Wire

The Buffalo Bills addressed one of the glaring needs on the roster by selecting wide receiver Keon Coleman with the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In the wake of Buffalo trading away WR Stefon Diggs this offseason, the Bills drafted a receiver who could bring an impactful player for the offense.

Daniel Jeremiah, former NFL scout and co-host of the “Move The Sticks” podcast, recently gave his take on what Coleman can bring to the Bills when he steps on the field in his first game. “He’s gonna be able to win with bodies all the way around him,” Jeremiah said of the receiver out of Florida State.

Coleman, listed at six-foot-3 and 213 pounds, was commended during the draft for his ability to rack up yards after the catch, which is part of what Jeremiah was speaking to. With the departures of Diggs and Gabe Davis, it seems that Buffalo is trying to build a receiving corps that can help star quarterback Josh Allen out by being able to create more than what they are given when they catch the ball.

“At the top of the route, again, it’s physicality, it’s strength,” Jeremiah said of Coleman’s ability to run his routes without being easily moved off his spots. Jeremiah even had a solid comparison for what Coleman could look like in the NFL. “Marques Colston was my comparison as someone who could be a big slot and just kind of big-boy guys down the field.”

With the additions of Coleman and Curtis Samuel to add to a receiving corps with holdovers in Khalil Shakir and tight end Dalton Kincaid, time will tell of Coleman will be a starter right away. However, being selected in the second round and being able to play on the outside or in the slot should lend itself to Coleman seeing the field sooner than later.
