To nobody’s surprise, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was named a finalist for the prestigious NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award for this past NFL season.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Hamlin said that it was humbling to be named a finalist and he continues to remain humble. He said that it was a tough process to get back onto the field after the cardiac arrest episode he had on Monday Night Football last year.
“I say this very humbly, I’m a humble person, but it feels like something aligned,” Hamlin said.
“All the steps that it took getting back to playing football – offseason, season, training camp, putting the helmet on – all of that was a process. And it’s still a process, and I think it will forever be a process as long as I decide to continue to play. But I’m built for it. Where we come from and the things that we overcame to even make it to the NFL, we’re all testimonial stories.”

Damar Hamlin may not have played much in 2023, but the fact that he played at all was nothing short of miraculous after what he went through.
As a result, Hamlin is the prohibitive favorite to win the award – and even some of the other finalists agree that he deserves it.
