Squish the Fish, round 1!
Buffalo is coming off a 27-17 home win over the New York Jets in a game where quarterback Josh Allen set a career high in passing yards (312), the first 300-yard game of his young career. Allen accounted for 91.3 percent of Buffalo’s yards of offense (369 yards) while completing 33 of 46 passes (71.7 % completion rate) with three total touchdowns (two passing and one rushing). Wide receiver Stefon Diggs hauled in eight passes for 86 yards while John Brown added six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Led by Mario Addison, Jerry Hughes and Trent Murphy, the defense sacked Sam Darnold three times and constantly pressured the third-year quarterback. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver was everywhere, keying a defense that held the Jets to three yards per rushing attempt.
The Dolphins dropped a 21-11 decision to the New England Patriots, as Cam Newton rushed 15 times for 75 yards and completed 15 of 19 passes for 155 yards in his New England debut. The Dolphins surrendered a league-worst 217 yards on 42 carries (an average of 5.2 yards per rush).
Former Bill Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 20 of 30 passes for 191 yards but threw three interceptions, while tailback Jordan Howard was bottled up, managing only eight rushing yards on seven carries in the loss.
This will be the 113th meeting all-time between the Bills and Dolphins. The Dolphins lead the series 61-50-1, with Buffalo prevailing 31-21 on Oct. 20, 2019 and 37-20 on Nov. 17, 2019. The Bills have won five of the last six meetings with the Dolphins, and ten of the last 14 dating back to the 2013 season.
Allen is 3-1 in his young career vs. Miami, having completed 61 percent of his passes for 913 yards with ten TDs and only three interceptions. He has also averaged 79.5 rushing yards per game with three TDs on the ground against the Dolphins.
