Get the latest on the Bills’ work during minicamp, plus updates on both WR Khalil Shakir and LB Matt Milano

The Buffalo Bills were finally treated to some fantastic early summer Western New York weather to complement Day 2 of mandatory minicamp. Following the shade that cast itself over Tuesday’s session leaving fans concerned over a mindfully cautious and ambiguous injury report for wide receiver Khalil Shakir, the second day of minicamp proved more optimistic.

To his credit, Sal Capaccio didn’t elaborate on what the injury appeared to be, stating only that something in the lower body area was visibly affected, though not to the degree that he couldn’t leave the field on his own.

Importantly, Matthew Bové shared news that Shakir was spotted doing work off to the side on Wednesday, sporting a sleeve on his left leg. A deep breath followed by a sigh of relief for all of Bills Mafia today.

Khalil Shakir did work off to the side today. Had a sleeve on his left leg after his injury from Tuesday. Overall, this is a good sign on the severity of whatever the injury is. pic.twitter.com/gOkWWxZrM9

Josh Reed pointed out how Josh Allen showed a dialed-in focus in connecting on deep shots throughout the day to both Keon Coleman and K.J. Hamler. Reed also shared an encouraging update on linebacker Matt Milano, stating he “(l)ooked comfortable going to ground during a tackling drill.”

Be sure to watch the embedded video short in Reed’s tweet to see Milano in action! Reed did mention that Shakir was essentially a spectator for Wednesday’s session.

Third-year cornerback Kaiir Elam has made plenty of head-turning plays throughout offseason work, with the latest coming via an interception of quarterback Josh Allen on a pass intended for rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman.

Kaiir Elam CONTINUES to MAKE PLAYS at #Bills minicamp.

For the second straight day, Elam picked off Josh Allen this time jumping a route against Keon Coleman.

Though Coleman was involved on the play where Elam intercepted Allen, he continues to impress in practice settings, with Alex Brasky noting Coleman’s air-grabbing catch of a difficult pass over cornerback Rasul Douglas.

Keon Coleman with his most impressive play of offseason activities, going up to snare a pass from Josh Allen, ripping it out of the air over Rasul Douglas on a back shoulder jump ball from Allen. Wasn’t a perfect throw, but Coleman won the contested catch situation
