BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Bills and wide receiver Khalil Shakir have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him locked up in Buffalo through 2029, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal is worth up to $60.2 million with $32 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Shakir is coming off of a career season with the Bills, catching 76 passes for 821 yards and four touchdowns, all of which were career highs. He appeared in 15 games and started in nine of them. In three playoff games he caught 18 passes for 174 yards.
“It’s a large puzzle,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane said at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis following the extension. “We’ve got a number of guys you could say deserve extensions, you also have a cap and we’ve been waiting, we got some clarity last week on the range of the cap. Some moves you do can acquire cap space and others can cost you, so we’re balancing all of that while having conversations.”
Shakir, 25, was a fifth round pick out of Boise State in 2022 whose rookie deal was set to expire following the 2025 season.
This allows Buffalo to reinforce its wide receiver core. Curtis Samuel is under contract for two more seasons, but Mack Hollins and Amari Cooper are both set to become unrestricted free agents when the new league year begins in March.
