The fourth-year receiver was rolled up on in Friday’s Blue and Red practice

The training camp injuries keep coming for the Buffalo Bills and this time, it’s wide receiver Khalil Shakir. Per head coach Sean McDermott, the fourth-year receiver suffered a high-ankle sprain in Friday’s annual Bills’ Red and Blue practice and is considered week-to-week.

#Bills HC Sean McDermott says the following players won’t practice today

OL Sedrick Van Pran-Granger
CB Maxwell Hairston
OL Alec Anderson
WR Khalil Shakir (high ankle – week to week)
S Cole Bishop
WR Curtis Samuel
LB Dorian Williams
WR Kaden Prather
LB Shaq Thompson

This is the same ankle that Shakir suffered a high-ankle sprain on in Week 4 of last season against the Baltimore Ravens. Luckily, he has plenty of time to heal up in time for Week 1 vs. Baltimore, which is over a month away.

Buffalo has dealt with its fair share of injuries this offseason, especially to the wide receiver position, and losing Shakir out of all the receivers certainly stings. There’s little doubt that this affects his chemistry with quarterback Josh Allen come regular-season time, too.

If we want to be as positive about this as possible, it opens up further opportunities for depth receivers to make an impact and potentially secure a spot on the final 53-man roster.
