An injury to Buffalo Bills punter Sam Martin is forcing the team to sign a new one ahead of Sunday’s Divisional Round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bills are signing punter Matt Haack to their active roster ahead of the game. Haack is a seven-year veteran who served as the Bills’ punter for the entire 2021 season, but was let go after an underwhelming season.
Haack was limited to just one game this season as a member of the Cleveland Browns, punting three times against the New York Jets back in December. He averaged 51.7 yards per punt in that game.
Martin is currently dealing with a hamstring injury. He had three punts for 48 yards per punt in Monday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But most people believe that the Bills should have taken a chance on former punter Matt Araiza, who has been out of the league since being drafted in 2022.

“Matt Araiza is available,” one user replied.
“I hear Matt Araiza could use a job,” wrote another.
“Thought for sure this was going to say Matt Araiza,” a third wrote.
It won’t be Araiza, but at least it’s someone with experience.
