The Buffalo Bills seemed likely to target wide receiver early in the 2024 NFL Draft, and they did just that on Friday night.
Buffalo used the first pick of the second round to select Florida State star Keon Coleman. Coleman should immediately settle into the starting lineup for the Bills, who lost wideouts Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason.
It didn’t take long for Josh Allen to reach out and welcome his newest target to the team, something Coleman says happened the same day he was drafted.
“He texted me the day of and was like, ‘You’re the guy I want. I watched a lot of receivers and I want to play with you,'” Coleman told the team’s official website. “And I’ve been saying the same thing. I want to play with the guy that wears number 17. I think he’s a great quarterback, one of the best in the league right now and I would love to be catching passes from him. I’m ready for that.”
Buffalo traded down twice out of the first round before picking Coleman at No. 33 overall. The 6-foot-3, 213-pound All-ACC performer caught 11 touchdown passes for Florida State last season.
Coleman joins Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel as Buffalo’s likely starting trio of wideouts, with Mack Hollins, Andy Isabella, Justin Shorter, KJ Hamler and others battling it out for roles.
