Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Donovan Smith claimed Highmark Stadium turned off the road team’s hot water following Sunday’s 27-24 victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Smith levied the accusation on social media after the AFC Divisional Round win.
“Caught a L and they shut our hot water off,” Smith wrote. “It’s all good. We got that Dub today.”
A press secretary for Eerie County, which owns Highmark Stadium, denied Smith’s claim in a statement to TMZ.
“This is false,” Peter Anderson said. “There is no way to turn hot water off on one side or the other. There are two huge hot water tanks which feed both home and away locker rooms.”

Anderson added that any issues Kansas City faced were likely due to heavy usage after playing a night game in below-freezing conditions.
“It is no different than in your home,” he continued. “When the water runs continuously, it will struggle to keep up with demand. Everything for hot water in the locker rooms was upgraded in recent renovations.”
Before allegedly being limited to cold showers, Patrick Mahomes and other Chiefs players ducked snowballs from disgruntled Bills fans. Linebacker Drue Tranquill taunted them on social media.
“We’d beat them in a snowball fight too,” Tranquill wrote on social media. “Truth is, my four-year-old throws a meaner snowball than Bills Mafia.”
Kansas City advanced to its sixth consecutive AFC Championship Game after eliminating Buffalo for the third time in the last four years. The Chiefs will hope for hot water and another win when going to M&T Bank Stadium to play the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.Â
